Five Separate Complaints - Same Officer. Investigate MPD Officer Gavin Steiger

MACOMB, ILLINOIS

As of Tuesday, October 26, 2021 there have been FIVE separate complaints from Black folx and other People of Color in the Chief's inbox against RACIST, CRUEL, & DANGEROUS Macomb Police Officer Gavin Steiger and several other MPD Officers.

We are grateful for their courage in reporting.

Wh*te community members, city & county officials wanted to hear directly from victims, refusing to address or even acknowledge our concerns about these same issues we've brought to them for YEARS now. Their silencing must also be investigated as #ObstructionofJustice. Their wish has been granted, with several more complaints on the way.

We join their appeals for redress of concerns.

Their allegations include:

• racial profiling

• over-policing Black folx and other People of Color

• manufacturing/pre-text for traffic stops

• police brutality

• hotboxing torture of detainees

• constitutional, civil, & human rights violations

• false arrest

• illegal search

• illegal property seizure

• falsifying documents

• illegal detainment

• denial of medical care

• denial of mental health care

• gender targeting of Black women for abuse

• intentional infliction of cruelty & mental anguish

• unprofessionalism

• failure to properly investigate crimes against Black folx and other People of Color

• Color of Law/Failure to Protect

• assault

• battery

• obstruction of justice

• failure to protect

• official misconduct

• retaliation

• failure to de-escalate

• dangerous, reckless driving

• putting the public at risk

• failure to investigate crimes against Black folx

Macomb's city and county leadership have ignored the pain and suffering of our marginalized community members in favor of offering up ice cream socials, drum circles, and other spiritual bypassing/ #ToxicPositivity messaging even as they locked down the public comment, and refused - REPEATEDLY -to put ANY discussion of these concerns on the agenda.

The City's Affirmative Action Officer, Scott Coker, has refused to even acknowledge any of the dozens of concerns we put on the public record many times over the past three years.

Scott Coker & Former State Trooper/Macomb Mayor Mike Inman's CoIntelPro silencing tactics must be investigated as possible obstruction of justice in all these and the dozens of cases.

75% of all vehicle stops in our city are against Black drivers despite comprising only 7.3% of total population!

We expect this officer to be put on desk duty and made to surrender his weapon IMMEDIATELY.
