Racist 911 Dispatcher Threatens Retaliation Against Racial Justice Activists
Macomb/McDonough County, IL
The screenshot below was from a profile claiming to be a 911 Dispatcher for the McDonough County 911, sent in from a concerned community member.
We hope community members realize there are now five formal complaints against the same Macomb Police Officer for racism.
What does it say that a person would think posting this disgusting, hateful meme would be without impact - nor consequences?
Does this impact your trust in our county's emergency dispatchers? If so, how?
This dispatcher trainee is no longer employed at the McDonough County 911 Center.
We are grateful to their leadership for their professional and rapid response.
As for this trainee:
Today, this woman approached one of our Black leaders, and tried to pressure him to do HER a solid and "fix it" - meaning, to rescue her and take this post down.
A wh*te person attempting to use a Black man to protect her from public consequences for her RACISM is also RACIST.
She actually used proximity - without actual valuation of his full humanity - to demand a BLACK MAN rescue her from her RACIST behavior, thereby adding further insult.
"We used to be friends..." to gain undeserved grace is blatant tokenization.
Wh*te people who commit acts of bigotry, hate, and intolerance have no right to demand Black folx and/or other People of Color come to their rescue.
Instead, TAKE RESPONSIBILITY.
APOLOGIZE PUBLICLY.
SHOW YOUR APOLOGY IN CHANGED BEHAVIOR.
AND DO BETTER.
Now this person hasn't just harmed our community and her reputation, she's personally disrespected a HATE CRIME SURVIVOR. She owes him an apology.
She may also have opened herself up for legal issues. A county employee pressuring/retaliating on a marginalized community member to cover her tracks is not ok.
She has also threatened the members of our leadership team for exposing her racist posts - and the following chat between her and another local clearly displays the former dispatch worker’s intent for retaliation, intimidation, and threats of violence.
Those trying to manipulate, harass, threaten, or otherwise intimidate Black and other People of Color on our team, in our org, and in our communities can expect to own their behavior VERY PUBLICLY.
